Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington in Ohio, dropped out high school, and relocating to Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite difficulties with money it was possible get her first significant role in the online video series Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's lead character. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she is the daughter and elder sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens her career began in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko with her twin brother. Then she appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received acclaim from critics for her leading performances in the erotic romance comedy drama Secretary (2002) and in the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which brought her a Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). Gyllenhaal began her career as screenwriter, director and writer in the year 2021 when she directed and wrote the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter. The film was awarded Best Screenplay at the Venice International Film Festival, and was later nominated by the Academy Award.
